Step 2: Are you using Outlook 97?
If you've recently installed the Microsoft® Outlook® 97 mail client, you could
experience problems with your e-mail, including: being unable to retrieve your
e-mail, not being able to launch Outlook 97, getting "mapi32.dll file" errors,
and not being able to select Outlook Express as your default mail client.
These problems occur because Outlook Express, which is the mail client that
comes bundled with your Prodigy Internet software, corrupts a file that Outlook
97 needs to run correctly. Once installed, Outlook 97 will also set itself up as
the default mail client and erase all the mail settings in Outlook Express. If
you want to use Outlook 97 instead of Outlook Express will have to obtain a copy
of the mapi32.dll file from Microsoft to enable the program to function
correctly.
If you would like to revert back to Outlook Express, your mail settings
will have to be entered manually. The settings are listed at the top of this page.
Step 3: Check your mailbox size limits
Your NCIA mailbox can hold up to 5MB of mail. Once you reach your limit, anyone
who sends you e-mail will get it bounced back with a message that your mailbox
is full. You can avoid this problem by not storing your e-mail on our servers:

Step 5: Check to see if you have a corrupt Inbox or Outbox.
If none of the above steps works, you may have a "corrupt" Inbox (if you can't
receive e-mail) or Outbox (if you can't send mail). If it is corrupt, you'll
need to delete the box, but unfortunately you'll lose any messages that are in
the box. Here's how to do this:
1. Close Outlook Express.
2. From the Start menu in the lower left-hand corner of your screen, choose "Find."
3. Look in the C Drive.
4. Put in the following name to be searched for:
Outbox: outbox.mbx
Inbox: inbox.mbx
5. When you find the file, delete it.
6. Repeat this process for outbox.idx or inbox.idx
7. Launch Outlook Express; your mail should now be functioning properly.
