they do on the WWW. NCIA provides this service FREE of charge to its customers.

Frequently Asked Questions about personal home pages at NCIA:
Q: What are my space limitations with a personal home page?
A: Your total disk usage quota is about 10MB. This means you can have as many as you wish as
long as the sum of the file sizes does not go over 10MB. You can NOT have one file over 10MB,
and you can NOT have 10MB + 1k files.
Q: Does mail sent to me via a homepage link use up space in my HTML area?
A: No. All E-Mail whether sent to you via mail program or link on your home page will
all use a different file system. Your HTML quota is unaffected.
Q: Can I use graphics and sound on my personal home page?
A: Sure! You can use whatever media you want. However, keep in mind graphics and
sounds files are larger and will consume your quota more quickly than text html files.
Q: Do I have access to public CGI areas for scripting with personal home pages?
A: NO, CGI scripts open a lot of security issues. Access to the global cgi-bin directory is not allowed.
Q: How do I get my html in my directory?
A: You can do this a number of ways. Probably the easiest would be
to use ftp. Check out the following urls for a good ftp client:
A good idea is to create all of your html documents locally, then upload the files to the server. NCIA CANNOT be held responsible for lost HTML.
Q: My sister would like to have her own page, but we share the family account... Can she have her own aside from mine?
A: NO. Each "actual" account (mailbox only accounts excluded) gets an allocation for HTML.
However, you may share your 500K/50 file limit with your sister.
Q: What is my URL?
A: Your URL will always be: http://www.ncia.net/users/~USERNAME
Where USERNAME is your actual login name you use to establish a connection to NCIA.
Q: How do I make my file come up automatically when someone wants to get to it?
A: In order for your page to open automatically when someone enters your URL address you
MUST create the main html file named "index.html". Only this file is opened automatically.
Q: How do I get my site listed on the NCIA User Homepage Directory?
A: The NCIA User Homepage directory located at http://users.ncia.net is
generated automatically by the system.
This occurs hourly and includes users' sites who have a public_html directory
and an index.html or index.htm file in that directory.
If you wish for your page to be excluded during the next run,
simply create a file in your home directory (not the public_html directory)
called noindex. This file does not need any data inside of it. It simply needs to exist.
Q: Ok, so I've got my FTP client. What server name, etc do I use to upload my files?
A: Server: users.ncia.net
Username: Same As You Use for Email
Password: Will be supplied by webmaster
Path: ~/public_html
